A serial locker thief, described as the “scourge of West Midlands’ gym-goers” has been banned from every gym in the West Midlands until January 2016. 48 year-old Lee Lynch from Solihull, was jailed for 56 weeks on Friday after admitting breaking into lockers and stealing wallets, cash and mobile phones. West Midlands Police were informed by the Ministry of Justice of the death of Rimvydas Liorancas on Saturday 28 January at Woodhill Prison in Thames Valley.
Liorancas had been charged with the murders of Avtar and Carole Kolar at their homes in Handsworth Wood, earlier this month.
The police investigation into the deaths of Avtar and Carole will continue and the completed findings will now be presented to the Coroner at the Inquest.
The family of Carole and Avtar were informed at the earliest possible stage of the news and we are continuing to support them.
A Prison Service spokesperson said:
"HMP Woodhill prisoner Rimvydas Liorancas (dob 16/7/1974) was found hanging in his cell at 8.52am on Saturday 28 January. Staff attempted resuscitation and paramedics attended but he was pronounced dead at 9.30am.
As with all deaths in custody, the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman will conduct an investigation."
